Having recently ventured into ice cream creation myself my head is full of flavour combinations and weird and wonderful infusion methods. Rose petal gelato anyone? (I created this flavour for a recent ice cream party with my cake club friends! Yum!)
I was very kindly invited along to the new Beckleberry’s ice cream parlour in the Metrocentre to sample the delights of the their gourmet sundae menu. Of course I said yes very quickly and took Mr Hoy along with me too.
I love Beckleberry’s ice cream, not only because it’s a proper local company using locally sourced high quality ingredients, but because they invent such wonderful flavours. We settled on two of the gourmet sundaes wanting to experience as much ice cream as possible. And we were not disappointed.
We opted for the Knickerbocker Geordie which was beautifully creamy and rich. Topped with luxury monkey’s blood. (Not actual monkeys blood but if you ask for it in any proper ice cream establishment in the North East you will be served lovely red sauce on top of your ice cream) this one also had actual strawberries in it too!
And the ever so decadent Coffee Cascade with gorgeous crunchy amaretto biscuit pieces in between each layer! My favourite bit! The added texture to the ice cream was the perfect accompaniment to the rich coffee and chocolate ice cream, keeping the sweet balance just right.
Delicious! I can’t wait to try the rest of their flavours. I wonder if I asked for a spoonful of every flavour they would let me sample the lot!
Beckleberry’s have also given my a voucher to pass on to my friends so you can get a discounted sundae at their new Ice Cream Parlour. Feel free to print out a voucher here Beckleberry Voucher £3 Sundaes
