Hello aroundtheworldin80bakes.com! Farewell princeproductions!

This week I took the plunge and invested in my little blog. I am now the proud owner of the domain http://www.aroundtheworldin80bakes.com ! šŸ™‚

My new address

This probably doesn’t mean a lot to anyone else but me but I feel like a technical wizz now I’ve also redirected my old domain http://www.princeproductions.wordpress.com to the new address.

I took great pleasure in typing my old address to the web browser and watching it magically transform into aroundtheworldin80bakes. Sad I know.

This means that any old links will still work and hopefully people can still find me?! The only other change is that my username is now aroundtheworldin80bakes rather than princeproductions, just in case anyone is wondering who I am when I comment on your blog.

So I’m bidding a fond farewell to princeproductions and hope you join me in welcoming in the new aroundtheworldin80bakes.com. I hope you like it. Let me know yours thoughts and as always thank you very much for reading!

    • Haha thank you! There wasn’t really a huge amount of wizardry involved as I left it up to wordpress to do the technical stuff. šŸ™‚ once I paid for the domain I just had to click a button and it was done for me. Magic! X

      • I have the domain for my website for my china hire but I got someone to do all that for me. I’m thinking about getting the domain for my blog and just doing it myself on wordpress. Kind of makes it your own a bit more I think šŸ™‚

      • Definitely. That’s what I was thinking too. It didn’t cost too much either. I think I paid about Ā£16 for the domain, redirecting from my old one and privacy settings for the year. šŸ™‚ x

  1. So this has been on my list of should I or not list for a while. I always planned to blog for one year and then decide if I should carry on and I am nearly at the year mark! Although I did not really do much with it for the first 6 months. I am still undecided on whether to continue blogging but if I do then buying a domain name etc would be on the cards. Did you get this through wordpress or buy from another supplier and get it redirected? Any pointers would be so helpful!

    • Wow you’ve been blogging for almost a year? That’s fantastic!! I always enjoy your blog and you have such fantastic ideas. I think you should continue blogging! But only if you’re enjoying it too. I had been thinking about buying my domain for awhile and I’m so pleased I took the leap. I followed the advice from the wordpress forum as I almost chose the wrong option! But I averted disaster by looking at the options. I had almost accidentally chosen to change my user name and blog name but if I had done that I would have lost all of my links and search engine search things. (I clearly know my technical stuff…) What I did was purchase my domain via wordpress, so I still get the tech support from wordpress who host my blog. I paid just under Ā£16 for the year for the domain, the privacy option (which is only a couple of pouinds but I thought it was worth it) and the mapping function. This was essential for me as I was changing from princeproductions to aroundtheworldin80bakes. Would you be keeping your name as it is? This means that princeproductions still exists but redirects visitors to the new domain, so old links still work on other webpages and my internal links too. Phew! It also means I get to keep my page ratings on google and stuff. I think this is the support that I used from wordpress here http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/ hope it helps and by all means give me a shout if you want to have a chat about it at all. I hope you do keep on blogging!

      • Oh my goodness thank you for all the information I am going to sit and look at that tomorrow! You are a star! šŸ™‚ and don’t worry I have a few more bakes to keep me going for a few weeks yet – yes I succumbed to baking a blog birthday cake – how sad am I!
